Lan Kwai Fong – East Asian Kitchen & Bar | Restaurant Review

Lan Kwai Fong

Lan Kwai Fong were offering a bottomless dim sum and cocktails, which we were just not going to miss. With a limit of 90 minutes, we both filled our stomachs and enjoyed our drinks, getting a large selection of the food offered there. Lan Kwai Fong has plenty of other deals and offers, so keep an eye out on their website to find the best deals for what you want to get!

The Jazzy Plum and Dragon’s Eye

The Jazzy Plum was made from Eristoff vodka, cointreau, plum juice and lemon sugar – it was a tart and refreshing drink that started the meal off right. The Dragon’s Eye is actually Jupiter’s favorite drink of the night, which is made with midori, lychee, vodka, and apple juice. It’s quite fruity and delicious while not tasting too much like spirits. The lychee also has a cherry inside of it, which is fun to eat when the drink is finished.

Salt & Pepper Tofu, Spring Rolls and Honey Roasted Chicken Wings

Our first round of small bites came together on one plate. We got the salt and pepper tofu, which was fried and came with fried garlic as well. These were a great texture and really addictive – the type of food you can keep popping into your mouth over and over. There was a bit of spice in there, as well as whole sliced peppers, and it was just a great start. The honey roasted chicken wings were crunchy, well cooked and quite sweet! We really liked the flavor of this and appreciated how crisp and crunchy the batter was. The spring rolls were as expected – just your normal spring rolls, which were good but not a stand out.

Black Truffle and Pork Xia-Long Bao, Sichuan-styped Pork Bun and Spicy Duck Dumplings

The black truffle and pork xia-long bao came out as a dumpling, which was a bit confusing to us, and didn’t really taste much like black truffle. It did have a wonderful pork flavor that was enjoyable though! The sichuan-styled pork bun was delicious – spicy, warm, full of pork flavor, and the bun was so fluffy and good. The paper did stick quite a bit to the bottom, but we didn’t mind at all. The spicy duck dumplings were spicy and good. They didn’t have a strong duck flavor but the overall spice was one that can’t be beat.

Lan Kwai Fong No. 28, New Terra, and Floral Kiss

The Lan Kwai Fong No .28 was the most beautiful drink of the night, with fresh kiwi in the bottom, lime, Eristoff vodka, and butterfly pea tea. This was such a fruity drink, very refreshing, and the use of the butterfly pea tea made it look out of this word. Flora Kiss had a bunch of berries on top and was made with berries, St. Germain elder flower liqueur, and yuzu. The drink was light, easy to drink, and very good. New Terra was a smaller drink, made with bacardi carta blanca rum, pineapple and lavender with a dash of lime. The top had a lovely bit of dried flowers, making the drink look really lovely. It was quite flora, as you’d imagine.

Juicy Barbecued Pork Bao, Crystal Prawn Dumpling, Chicken and Sweet Corn Dumplings

The juicy barbecued pork bao is one of the few items we ordered more than once. They were stuffed with pork to the point where they were bursting! The barbecue sauce was tangy and the buns were delicious. The crystal prawn dumplings were given a mixed review, Dann liked them but Jupiter found the chunks of prawn to be a bit much for her. The chicken and sweet corn dumplings were very corn forward in flavor, with little bits of chicken throughout it. The texture on both the chicken dumpling and the prawn dumpling were a bit gummy, which was a surprise for us.

Salt and Pepper Chicken, Sweet and Sour Ribs, Spicy Pork Wontons, and Mystery Dumplings

The salt and pepper chicken was crispy and much more then the name would let on. This was another dish we ordered more than once – the texture was lovely, there was sa bit of spice and it was wonderfully seasoned. The sweet and sour ribs on the other hand were just okay – the sauce was sweet and quite standard, the ribs were just okay. The spicy pork wontons were delicious – a good amount of space and the wontons had a great texture to them. In this bundle of food, we had our second lot of juicy barbecued pork bao, and then just another set of three dumplings. We don’t know which dumplings these were, to be honest, as we thought they were the chicken dumplings but then the chicken dumplings came a moment later. They weren’t the best dumplings and we had a bit of an issue with the texture, but we honestly have no idea what was in them at this point!

Green Tea Mojito, Aloe Margaret, Jay’s Jam and Bad Passion

More drinks! The green tea mojito had bacardi carta blanca rum, lime, mint and green tea syrup. This was a less fruity drink and did actually taste of tea. The aleo margaret was simpily an alo vera juice based margarita, which is a twist we hadn’t seen before and was quite nice. Jay’s Jam has bombay sapphire gin, elder flower topped with orange and ginger jam. We were a bit unsure if the jam would be overwhelming but it was not. The ginger wasn’t a forward taste, but you still got that little tingle. The bad passion was bombay sapphire gin, campari, orange bitter and passion fruit – this is a fruity drink that has a bitter edge to it – it’s quite nice though!

Spicy Garlic Edamame and Glutinous Rice with Chicken & Pork Sausage Wrapped in Lotus Leaves

In this round, we did get more of the crispy chicken, but we also got probably the best edamame of our lives. There was so much garlic and just a small kick of heat – they were well cooked and lovely. The glutinous rice with chicken and pork sausages wrapped in lotus leaves were a sort of gamble, as we had no idea what they were. The rice was very sticky and starchy, with small amounts of sausage here and there. It’s an interesting dish, but lacking in flavor for us.

Over all, the quality and variety at Lan Kwai Fong was fantastic. All of the drinks were just fantastic. It was very fun to an all you can eat menu, as we got to try so much food! This place also has a virtual beer table, but it was pretty packed when we were there, and we were so full by the end that we just headed home. Hopefully, we do get to visit again though!

Oh my that is a lot of food! This looks like something my husband and I would enjoy. I don’t think there was anything we wouldn’t have tried ourselves. The drinks look fantastic as well.

The food looks absolutely delicious here. I am a huge fan of pork wontons and spring rolls. I’ll have to visit here one day.
