Glamping in Cocoons at Lee Valley Campsite, Sewardstone

Lee Valley Campsite

[Ad- gifted experience] Lee Valley have a bunch of different campsites all around our area! These campsites offer a variety of different ways to camp from pitching tents, to bringing your own caravan, to staying in cabins, cocoons or mini-homes on the property. We got the opportunity to stay in a cocoon at Lee Valley Campsite, Sewardstone. This little overnight getaway was one Dann and I booth took together, as a cocoon is a perfect place for two people to spend the night.

The Lee Valley Campsite, Sewardstone is a well laid out campsite that has a lot of security around it. At the front entrance, there is a bus stop that can take you right to the center of London as well as a gate that needs a code to enter it. Once inside the gate, there is a reception which has a small shop, selling kid’s toys, snacks and drinks. This is where we checked in – there is also a public men’s rest room and shower room attached to this building. Following the roads around, you can see all of the different types of accommodation.

On the property, there is a well maintained children’s play park, with swings, slides and climbing areas. There is also a covered sand box filled with toys, which is a great size for playing! By this area, there is more public restrooms, shower rooms, and a big open green space full of picnic tables for people to eat at. Around the campsite, you can also find water taps, waste areas, and places to plug in your caravan if needed. You can also take a little nature walk around the Lee Valley River, through a gate that needs a pass code, taking in some of the nature around you.

The cocoon style accommodation we were in is sort of like a giant wooden tent. It’s got a front door and a little porch, but is a small room that is perfect for a night away. There is a double bed, side table, kettle, a few plugs, a light, and some coffee inside each room. You do need to bring your own bedding, but the bed itself even had a bed topper, making it a very comfortable place to sleep. Our window at the back and front door have curtains for privacy and the front door also had frosted glass. The little place did keep in a lot of warmth. Inside were also two fold out chairs, and there was a further two small chairs outside and a small table, in case you want to eat or play games outside your cocoon. You are also able to park your car next to your cocoon too!

There are add-ons that you can purchase at the Lee Valley Campsite, Sewardstone. We ended up getting some wood, kindling, and rented a decorative BBQ. You can also purchase bicycle rentals, WIFI and other features for your stay. When we stayed at the campsite, it did rain that evening, so we did not create a fire, but that option is very nice when camping! We ended up opening up the door and window, and listening to the rain all night. This getaway felt very peaceful and like a good reset.

Sometimes, having a night away can really reset your mind, and in a place like Lee Valley Campsite where you have little WIFI, you are able to really reconnect and enjoy each other’s company. I feel it would be a great place to disconnect for the night, maybe work on your novel or just be with your partner. Many people also use this area as a way to have a cheaper time exploring London, as it’s so nearby and the accommodation on the campsite is very reasonable.

You can check out our other Days Out to see what else we’ve been up too!

We’ve only been glamping once before but it’s such a nice way to feel close to the outdoors but have a bit of luxury. It seems like there’s quite a lot of facilities there, especially for the kids
