Long Cow board game – all about silly cows!

[Ad – Gifted Products] Every other Monday we all go along to our local Geek Retreat and play a board game, as a sort of fun way to spend the afterschool time on the first day back each week. This time, we played Long Cow, which is a very silly game all about building some award-winning cows.

The gameplay itself is quite simple; everyone gets a hand of cards to start with, and on their turn they can play as many baby cows, adult cows, and action cards as you want, after either drawing two cards from the deck or selecting a cow or cow part from the discard pile. The only thing is, the cows in front of you need to be complete, with a head and a bum each. You can add middle aspects to the cows by feeding them, placing down as many stomachs as you want. There are four types of cows in Long Cow, and if you don’t match your cow parts, you’ll need an action card or to use a wild cow part, which are pretty funny.

There is a lot of sabotage that can be done in Long Cow, with people playing cards that can take away full cows, ditch baby cows, and remove middles from cows! There are cards that can stop attacks from happening, but it’s all about what you have in your hand and when you want to use it. There are three medals that can be earned at the start, giving bonus points to those who got them when the game ends, which is triggered by the last card in the draw deck being picked up.

Some of the cows in Long Cow are super funny – there is a superhero cow made of wild cards, there are cows that just have cute decorations on their middles, etc. It’s just a silly game! Even when people had a few very long cows out at the start, suddenly there were a few action cards played, and everything even backed out. Robin had a few fun action cards that allowed her to make franken-cows, with a few different cow parts all together – which was very funny. Amelia took more of a strategical approach, hiding her hand and placing down her cows at the end, which was a great strategy!

We all had a lot of fun with Long Cow, and the game itself is extremely easy to pick up and play. I like the ease of learning and the cute cows that were created, as they were just so much fun.
