Museum of Ice Cream – SO many samples!

Often, we go to all of these sort of ‘Instagram-able’ places hoping they are as good as the videos seem. When I went along to the Museum of Ice Cream (which had a bit of a price tag) I was hoping that maybe, maybe it was as good as it might be. You may have known that I spent a lot of time in Upstate New York eating soft serve, every single day, for a month. So I absolutely love ice cream and were excited to get my Ice Cream name and start tasting.

The Museum of Ice Cream starts you off with a bar and soft serve. This is a fantastic way to really kick off the place, as it’s unlimited ice cream. The flavor of soft serve I got was s’mores, which had gram crackers on top as well. It was fantastic! Very chocolate-forward, some great texture, and I was excited to have more ice cream as I went around. The next area was a children’s play kitchen, absolutely full of kids running around making pretend ice cream. I dodged this and grabbed all three flavors of mini-ice-pops from the freezer and ate them on the Museum of Ice Cream train, where the windows showed videos of people going to the Ice Cream Museum on the train. It’s adorable.

The ice pops were just okay, with one of them (the orange one!) being a little on the sour side. I quite liked the one that was three colors, being primarily like a strawberry and cream-type ice pop. These were a fun little treat, but I was feeling like maybe there wasn’t going to be enough ice cream at the Museum of Ice Cream. I did go through a wall of pink and yellow bananas and through a table of desserts – all great places to take pictures. There were also a bunch of fridges that you could open, starting mini-games, showing ice-cream things, or revealing fun rooms. This was absolutely a joy, full of fun moments and playful sections that felt great for kids and adults alike.

There were so many interactions within the Museum of Ice Cream; a wall of letters that could be moved around, a bunch of little mini-games, and actually plenty of ice cream! I went to a room that had eight different flavors, which you could try one by one, before moving to a room that actually did feel like a museum. This was the area that had giant ice cream scoups that you could open to read about how those flavors were invented and a bunch of different tools throughout the various years when it came to ice cream, ice cream cake, and serving ice cream. This was fun to read as I continued to eat loads of different flavors of ice cream, and thought, surely this was it. (It was not).

I then took a slide into another room, full of activity sheets and small tabletop games, before entering one full of arcade games! There was basketball (in ice cream cones) and skeeball (full of cherries) along with a bunch of other games. On the day that I went, this was rather busy, so I tried their New York City exclusive ice cream – soft serve, covered in everything bagel seasoning, in a bright pink bagel. It was truly unique and something so different from anything I have ever had before. I do not regret eating it at all! You could opt to have this soft serve without the savory topping, in a normal waffle cone if you’d like.

I thought surely this was the end, but then found myself in a giant ball pit full of sprinkles. I did not spend long in here as it was also very busy, so went onto the final area, which had another eight flavors of ice cream to try! At this point, I was really convinced that the Ice Cream Museum was far worth the ticket price. The amount of ice cream I got to try and the different varieties were fantastic. I do wish there was more soft server (it was only the bagel and the first ice cream that was soft serve in the end) but I very much enjoyed how many fun activities there were in this place.
