While on a work trip in Canada, I had some free time and wanted to explore a local attraction, so I found myself visiting the Muttart Conservatory. These are a bunch of pyramids made of glass, which I saw on my way from the airport to my hotel, and as someone who always visits gardens when traveling with Dann, I wanted to check it out! The Muttart Conservatory has one of Canada’s largest botanical gardens, with over 700 different kinds of plants, divided into four different pyramids.

Even the outside of the Muttart Conservatory is stunning, with flowers growing and the iconic glass pyramids sticking up over the entrance. I walked in, paid the fee, and started walking around. The main pyramid is actually a cafe and seating area, which was a little surprising to me, as all of the side pyramids were much smaller. I do feel you can walk around this whole place in about half an hour, if you are just having a little walk!

With that said, each of the pyramids are a different zone, with different plant life within them. These divides are on the smaller side, but they are well labelled. The Tropical Pyramid had the coolest flowers, I think, where as the Arid pyramid had mainly cactuses, which I do not find as fun to walk around. There were a lot of little signs dotted around that said the names of the plants, and the layout was fun in each room, as there was a sort of river or water feature in each. It’s just a nicely designed botanical garden.

There is one pyramid that changes often, as a sort of feature room. When I went to the Muttart Conservatory, it was set up for the Golden Anniversary, which was celebrating the conservatory itself. There were a bunch of different seating areas, lots of golden features, and tons of stunning flowers. It almost looked like a fantastic wedding set-up, if I am honest! There were fountains around that had various fish swimming, and lots of people walking in this area to take pictures. I do think it’s a fun idea.

I spent a lot of my time at the Muttart Conservatory taking a look at all of the different flowers and enjoying the atmosphere. It was a bit warm, but not too bad – and it’s clear the flowers themselves are well looked after. They did have some things for children to spot, like a gnome trail and a bunch of cut-out bugs that they could spy, which is a nice touch. It seems like a well-maintained, beautiful garden.
