A Day Out at Sealife Adventure

Sealife Adventure

In the United Kingdom, Sea Life is normally a sort of brand of aquariums, that are all around the country. However, there is one Sealife that doesn’t seem to be in this umbrella, and that’s the one owned by Adventure Island, which I believe has been around long before the Sea Life brand. This was super confusing to me at first, especially as Sea Life tends to charge tons to see their aquarium, where as Sealife Adventure is much more affordable and can often be free to go into if there is an event at Adventure Island.

Sealife Adventure is set up like most aquariums, with so many of the classic fish that you are able to look at! There are starfish in interesting places, aquariums with schools of fish, and of course the ant / reptile area that seems to always be in aquariums in the United Kingdom. When we went, the place was pretty empty, but we were attending close to the time that Sealife Adventure closed. When we first walked into the aquarium, one of the first rooms was decorated to look like you walked into a massive submarine, which impressed Robin, Amelia and Kai. In this room, there were also different interactive aspects, which had questions about sea animals that you could solve. These interactive aspects are always a hit with younger ones!

A sort of unique feature to Sealife Adventure was the dinosaur area. There was a medium sized section of the venue which had loads of animatronic dinosaurs, hidden between lushes plants. There were, of course, living fish and animals in this area – with a crocodile sitting among the dinosaurs! This room was really humid, so it was hard for me to see through my foggy glasses, but it felt really different and unique, especially with the wooden bridges and pathways that felt like they were through the jungle.

The reptile and ant area was sort of a bug area – with butterflies flying around you. This was a nice surprise as we had not been inside a free-flying butterfly area before. The plants in this area are also really pretty, and you can totally watch ants take apart all of their leaves and move them to a new place. There are some reptiles, but most of them seemed to be hiding when we went, though we did see a big snake or two!

Sealife Adventure also had a penguin area inside their aquarium, which is something that I always really enjoy! There were a handful of penguins swimming about, which we were able to see in both the outside area and inside area, as they swam and ran around. Penguins are always an animal I enjoy watching and seeing, so it was a lovely surprise. We also got to go through the classic aquarium tunnel, looking at loads of fish all around us, and even saw some turtles with really long necks and beautiful looking fish darting about! These tunnels are always really lovely to walk through, as it feels like you are surrounded by fish.

Sealife Adventure is a decent sized aquarium – especially for the ticket price to go in! There is plenty to see and I do enjoy that so much of the venue was indoor and outdoor as we walked around. There was plenty to see and lots of time could be sent looking at all of the different animals that were at this venue.

We always visit the sealife center on the trip. The last one was the marine center in Barcelona. Sealife Adventure would be the next one if we are around the area. Thanks for the tip.

You all look so enjoy especially the kids. Seems like so many different activities that the kids will enjoy and learn.

My grandson would love it there! The last time he has been to someplace similar (Ocean Park) was 4 years ago. (Blame it on the pandemic and all the lock downs) I will let my daughter know so we can plan a trip to Sealife adventure soon.

I have one of their aquariums near me & I love it! It is always a great place to take the family to and during the summer it helps us escape the heat.
