A Day Out at Wonderland at Adventure Island

Wonderland at Adventure Island

As we are attending loads of seasonal events at amusement parks this year, when our friends invited us to come to Wonderland at Adventure Island with their family, we were well up for it! We are seasonal pass holders at Adventure Island, which gave us a discount on the Winter Wonderland tickets and a free pass to each go in and use all of the other rides at the park. It is worth noting the Wonderland ticket does not include rides this year (though I heard it did previously) and you will need to book separately!

Wonderland at Adventure Island actually included a lot of things in the ticket price, so there was really more to do than can actually be done in one day. Adventure Island was decorated for the season, with giant inflatables all over the park and lights turning on in the evening time. There was also a special holiday ride, where you can go in a sled and ride around as if you are on Santa’s sleigh. All of the other park rides were also open, so you can experience a full day at the park!

With the Wonderland theme, there was a tent within the park that is hosting a bunch of Christmas themed activities. Amelia filled up a little bag with Reindeer Food, Robin got her face painted like a snowman, and we all danced to Christmas themed songs with elves. This is all free and included in coming in, which is really lovely, especially if it’s raining and you’d like to get out of it for a moment. Within the tickets to attend Wonderland at Adventure Island, you also get to meet Santa – something that we skipped as we had previously been and met him at another place. Meeting Santa had you go and wait at a specific time slot in a tent, until an Elf came and brought you through a maze of toys and holiday themed decorations, until you ended up at one of Santa’s little huts. You can then go and have a personal experience with Santa and let him know your wishes!

Each child also got a ticket to use in the Toy Shop, which is perfect to do after meeting Santa. The toy shop had a bunch of different toys, games, dolls, stuffed animals and so much more, allowing children to come in and pick one of any item they’d like in exchange for a ticket. Amelia and Kai ended up with giant balls that are on leads where as Robin got a banana-cat-fairy stuffed animal. I also picked up a copy of a Grinch board game, as it looked so fun and I had never seen it before. There are tons of toddler toys, nerf-like toys and more to choose from as well, the selection was the best out of the toys we have seen given away at these amusement park events.

In our vouchers, we also got a free kids meal at the fish and chip themed restaurant, which we all went to have lunch at. There were quite a few vegetarian options as well as jacket potatoes. The kids meals are small, good enough for Robin, but we ended up with adult meals for everyone else in our family. This was fine though, it’s classic fish and chip grub at classic prices! These vouchers do not expire until February, so there is plenty of time to come back and let Robin pick up another lunch.

Wonderland at Adventure Island did close at 5pm, which felt a little early, but the indoor bits stayed open. Included in the ticket price is a 5£ voucher for arcade, which using our passes we could add a percentage more onto each card, so we went into the indoor bit and spend all our credits! The games themselves are reasonable in price and there were plenty to play on. This area does have a few rides; a drop ride, a swinging boat, and a merry-go-round. Though, the really thing that’s shown in this area is actually a giant soft play area, which is several floors high, that Robin just loves. There were some animatronic holiday decorations inside as well, including a Santa shaking a tree, and Frostie, and the Reindeer! It’s a really lovely and different display.

There were also vouchers for free entry into the Sea Life centre by Adventure Island and Mini-Golf, however you still needed to pay for an adult ticket for each adult that went in. We did end up going to the Sea Life centre as well! With everything included in the ticket price, Wonderland at Adventure Island does feel worth it. We will likely be going back to Adventure Island to finish our Mini-Golf in the new year as well, so it’s great that they have such a long time to use them!

You can check out our other Days Out to see what else we’ve been up too!
