[Ad – Gifted Products] Another Monday, another time to go to our local Geek Retreat and try out a game! This time, we went with Sosig, which is a bite-sized card game which could fit in your pocket, really. This tiny card game is all about building sausages that customers order, so that you can get points! The instructions are extremely straight forward (maybe too straight forward!) which makes the game easy to play.
We set up the middle of the table, which is a lot of the work in Sosig. You are basically putting down two body hotdog cards, along with the face down deck and one head hotdog cards, along with two order cards, the face down order deck, the face down mystery meat deck, and one of the award cards. This award card is something everyone can aim for over the course of the game, while the order cards can be claimed and re-drawn as the game goes on.
It’s worth mentioning the game isn’t clear on if you can use a hotdog for more than one order or if you can claim an order the moment a hotdog order that fits you is revealed. Even without these clarifications, we found ourselves having a good time. The gameplay has you selected one card from the table – normally a head or body that’s either shown or face down, then placing it in front of you. Each player is building their own hotdog grid!
There are some cards, like the mystery meat, that can be used to harm the hotdogs that other people are making; burning them, taking a bite out of them, etc. There are special hotdog pieces as well, like the sausage roll, which stops them from being harmed. Both Amelia and Robin found Sosig to be a very funny little card game, and I do find that it is ideal for taking on road trips or on holidays this summer, as it’s so bite-sized and on theme.
