[Ad- gifted experience] The Star in Shoreditch has recently re-opened, after renovations and a name change! Previously known as the Roadtrip, Dann and I had not been to this venue before, and were excited to see all of the renovations and check out what this new hot spot had to offer.
When we arrived, we were impressed by the amount of outdoor seating this venue has! The Star in Shoreditch is very well decorated with an American theme; American flags, neon signs, and a lot of different seating! The place quickly filled up with people looking to see what this new venue was all about.
They had a launch day cocktail menu as well as a bunch of on tap beers for people to enjoy. I ended up ordered two Tom Colins and got two completely different drinks – one of which was nice and the other of which was not, but I feel like this might be opening night nerves. Many of the bar staff seemed to be ill prepared for this launch, and mentioned not having items in stock or thinking that they should have waited before having the party, but the night was still quite young.
The Star in Shoreditch has partnered with Sides and Slides so that you can order food and eat them in their venue. The menu has burgers, hot dogs, loaded fries and wings – proper bar food. We got the buffalo chicken fries, which were crispy, cheesy and delicious – a real stand out of the night!
Downstairs, The Star in Shoreditch is home to a karaoke area that can be rented out for groups of people. The machines had a lot of songs to choose from, including a Tiktok Trending section and music divided by the year it was released. This area also has a bunch of functions (think comedy nights, weekend Djs, that sort of thing) scheduled for the next few weekends, so it’s well worth checking out their schedule and seeing if anything peaks your interest! In the month of May, The Star in Shoreditch are also giving away 1,000 free drinks, via their mailing list!
Overall, I liked the vibes of The Star in Shoreditch. There was a good feel to the venue, and the downstairs area feels very cozy and quant. It’s almost like going to a local pub full of their regulars, who come there every weekend after work for drinks. It feels homey. I think that as they continue to stay open, they will likely work out the kinks! And do check out the website, as there are lots of deals (like 2 for 1 cocktails on weekdays).
You can check out our other Days Out to see what else we’ve been up too!
Looks a nice place to visit and have fun
I’ve been looking for new places to explore and your post has definitely piqued my interest. Your detailed description and honest insights make me excited to check it out for myself.
I love that this place’s laid back rock’n’roll aloofness. It makes it a prime spot for locals.
I love to visit places that got a good cocktail list. This is place is great!
I’m so glad you had such an awesome time! Thanks for sharing this review
The place seems amazing wow, sooooo much fun. I would love to experience The Star in person.
Opening nights can be hectic, and it often takes some time for a new establishment to find its rhythm. By sharing your feedback, you can contribute to their growth.
Its great until youre Black and trying to get in. My experience with the place is , that I, as a Black person was walking in with White friends. A group of 6 in total, my friend and I, the only two Black people in the group were stopped and interrogated, and then told that we’re being aggressive for asking why we’re not let in with the rest of the group. It’s truly disheartening and painful to experience this kind of blatant racism, right in the middle of London. I guess it’s diversity until a Black people comes along. But, hey, have fun!!
I am so sorry about your experience there – I am in no way in partnership with The Star and was just invited there for the opening night. I hope you were able to contact their owner or them directly, as that is really gross behavior on their part!
