Trying Two Greedy Pigs – American Style BBQ in Harlow

Two Greedy Pigs

Dann and I are a big fan of food and love trying out new places to eat! As an American, American style BBQ is something that brings comfort to me. As it turns out, Two Greedy Pigs has opened – an American BBQ joint that primarily caters to takeaway, providing a menu of BBQ items and classic American favorites. It’s worth noting that the website itself is not very up-to-date with the food that you can get there, so it’s worth checking out the venue and ordering based on the signage, or you might miss some really lovely gems.

Two Greedy Pigs does have some covered seating, but isn’t a sit-down restaurant. You need to order at the window, though if you do eat in, you will be brought out your food and can eat at the tables provided. At this time of the year, due to them being so new, there isn’t heating in this area, so we opted to takeaway our food and eat it in the warmth of either our car or our home, if we could wait that long! The seated area is well decorated and feels like a family BBQ, so I am excited to use it during the summertime. The food when presented to those eating in was very well plated, so do keep that in mind as we got takeaway boxes.

All Beef Hot Dogs with the works

Two Greedy Pigs

I do not think I have actually seen all beef hot dogs in England, though it’s the default hot dog I had growing up! These beef franks were shipped from America – and they are a very tasty, nostalgic thing for me. They aren’t super beefy or anything, but are very delicious. Two Greedy Pigs tops their hot dogs with chili con carne, a meaty, delicious topper. This chili feels really classic to me, with the chili being very easy to eat. I got cheese as well as sauerkraut, relish, and mustard on my hot dog. The sauerkraut and relish add a good amount of vinegar to cut through the meatyness, and the mustard added a good amount of spice. This hot dog also looked fantastic in the little takeaway container! It’s something I’d easy get again, especially as a quick meal on the go.

Cinnamon Swirl Pork Belly Meal

Two Greedy Pig’s Cinnamon Swirl Pork Pelly is something really quite unique. The pork itself does taste a lot of cinnamon, and so does the BBQ sauce, which is an interesting take on pork belly! The meal comes with quite a bit of meat, as well as some grilled corn, a health portion of mac n’ cheese, and some house made coleslaw. The slaw is very vinegar heavy, but has a nice amount of crunch. The mac n’ cheese tastes like someone’s grandmother’s mac n cheese recipe, that you’d get at her home – in a good way. It’s a comforting, filling, cheesy delight. I was surprised by the flavor of the pork and how new this tasted to myself and Dann!

American Style Chicken Wings

I have big opinions when it comes to chicken wings. I do not like them breaded, and they need to be crispy. These American Style Chicken Wings are in fact crispy and do not come covered in bread. There is only one flavor to them, which is spicy! Far more spicy then buffalo, as it’s more of an oil-based hot sauce (made in house) that they are coated in. These wings aren’t overwhelming, and the coverage of the sauce is very good giving bits that aren’t so intense. They come with some blue cheese dressing (which is very blue cheese heavy) and celery to keep the heat at bay. I really enjoyed the crispy aspect of these wings, and both Dann and I enjoyed the heat. I do hope they add a classic buffalo sauce in the future though, as that would make them perfect.

Two Greedy Pig Special

Two Greedy Pigs had a limited time special – this beef BBQ brisket sandwich, which deserves a spot on the menu all of the time. This burger had plenty of beef on it, along with their coleslaw, a pickle, and was in a soft bun. I really enjoyed the sauce on this sandwich and the amount of beef that there was. The coleslaw matches perfectly and really cuts through the sandwich – I enjoyed it and would eat it regularly!

Two Greedy Pigs feels like a family business, with a cook that loves American BBQ. It’s great to see one of these in Harlow and it’s been fun to try out the food there. If you’re a fan of BBQ, it’s well worth stopping by.

Spice burger 8oz should rename it bland burger other than the small amount of cheese, this burger was dry unsalted and 100% tasteless. It amazes me how so many people in these areas have given high ratings???

Hyped waste of money bland food, and where was the spice? a joke of a place.
