Yori is a Korean BBQ place that has locations all around London and beyond. We stumbled upon one in Cambridge, but they weren’t able to accommodate any additional people on the day we went there, so we went back the next day, after reserving a table, and decided to get a rather big lunch.

Now, if you’ve never been to Korean BBQ, essentially there is a big grill in the middle of the table. Everyone then cooks the food they want to eat, before eating it. We got one of the regular, two people platters of meat, which was actually extremely slow to come out, despite us being the only people inside the place. This was not a fantastic start at Yori.

The meats we got where a marinated chicken, which tasted pretty good. The seasoning was well done! We had some pork belly, which was just okay, and some marinated meat that had bones in it. This had a good flavor, but there wasn’t much meat as it was mostly bones. There were a few giant prawns, which cooked up easily, and a bunch of marinated beef. The marinated beef was bulgogi, which is one of my favorites and I did think this was well done. We did get a big steak, but it was butterflied in a way that it wouldn’t cook evenly, as there was a big flap on the back that didn’t sit flat.

We did wish there were some vegetable options, but some lettuce did appear after we had been cooking for a while. We also got a selection of kimchi, which was a big highlight for me, as I did love the radish kimchi at Yori. Overall, however, we did feel that everything was just average. Yori wasn’t the best Korean BBQ we have went to, and we never found out what the amazing smell was, but it was fun having such a big, interactive lunch!
