When Claire invited me to see The Guild, as apart of the MTFest UK, I wasn’t really sure what to expect. I’ve been to a large number of plays and performances in my time, but this one marketed itself as a 1-hour workshop, where the actors were doing a live reading. The Guild is a musical, based on a series that is all about meeting up with virtual friends outside of the internet, to see how you all get on.

[Ad- gifted experience] The Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch is one we frequent. They’ve got a single stage, where they put on fantastic shows. There is a bar outside the stage, along with a cafe on the other side, and plenty of seating while you wait for the show to begin. This time, we went along to see Loot – a take on Joe Orton’s classic dark farce, though we hadn’t heard of it before.
[Ad- gifted experience] Amelia has been getting into collecting Pokemon Cards, so we’ve had our eye on more events around our area. We’ve gone to a few card shows in our town, but hadn’t been to one of the medium or large sized card shows, so when we were invited to the London Card Show at Esher Sandown Racecourse, we wanted to see what it was all about!
[Ad- gifted experience] It’s not the first year that I have attended the Pokemon Europe International Championships, which is a huge, overwhelmingly Pokemon focused event that happens at the Excel each year. As this year is the 30th anniversary of Pokemon, there was an even bigger buzz than usual as the event was coming up. I am very much into Pokemon, running a local Pokemon Go community (that’s officially partnered with Niantic) and I’ve written about Pokemon events as a member of the press for quite some time – so I wasn’t going to miss this event which was a stone’s throw away from my town!

Now, when it was explained that one of our outings while in Austria would be to the Austrian National Library, I didn’t really get why would we would be going there. Surely, I’ve seen libraries before! We were then told that this is one of the libraries that Beauty and the Beast was inspired by, I was a little more interested, but still thought it would be like a normal, functioning library. It turns out, the Austrian National Library is more like a museum that is within a library, and it’s absolutely packed with people.
