[Ad- Collab] There are tons of things to do in London, especially around the holiday month! We love getting into the Christmas spirit by visiting London and checking out all of the different places within London to explore. If, unlike me, you live a bit far out from London, you should consider traveling into the area with the VIP pass, which will give you massive deals on places to stay, which can really make a difference in your experience. The VIP Pass gives you 7d/6n FREE hotel stay as a sign up bonus when you purchase the premium membership pass. But, let’s get into some of the fun things that you can do in London in December.
Winter Wonderland
Winter Wonderland is an annual festival that happens right in Hyde Park in London. It’s a massive Christmas-themed market, fair grounds, and festive area. You can meet Santa there, eat a bunch of different foods, ride some rides, and pick out some Christmas gifts for your loved ones. We always go to Winter Wonderland in the month of December. Ensure that you do pre-book, though, so that you can make it in. There are different priced tickets, and if you go midweek in the morning, it’s actually completely free to enter Winter Wonderland, which can be a big help to your budget.
The LEGO® Carousel of Creativity
Located right in Covent Garden, the LEGO Carousel of Creativity is a feature that you must see this year, especially if you are going into London with kids. This little area is free to enter, allowing you to walk in and see a giant LEGO Santa, some Christmas Trees, and a Carousel that has a lot of meaning behind it. Each of the areas have a different, large LEGO feature, which represents messages about the world and the future. It’s a really cute little walk that ends with a gift certificate that allows you to gain money off and get a free toy if you purchase some LEGO at the LEGO Store nearby!
Covent Garden
As the Lego Carousel is in Covent Garden, you should probably explore around there. Inside Covent Garden, you will find winter market stalls, lots of decorations, and there are street performers around every single day, to entertain you in the evenings. Food stalls line one side of the market, if you are looking for something to eat. If you are one for snowfall, they are even blasting snow from the roof of one of the buildings, which feels super festive, especially as it doesn’t snow much in England!
Trafalgar Square Christmas Market
In Trafalgar Square, there is a decent sized Christmas Market, including a large Christmas Tree that has been lit and ready for you to view. This year, the tree has been quite a big deal made out of the tree at Trafalgar Square. This is a tree that was gifted to us from Norway, and this year it is a very tall, but not very filled looking tree. You can go see for yourself, and make your own judgements on the gift. The Christmas market surrounding the tree has plenty of food stalls and a lot of gift stalls, if you are looking for something for someone special!
Lightopia
Lightopia has a location in London each and every year. This illuminations festival is one we never miss ourselves, always booking up tickets ahead of time because it is such a unique and fun experience. This is basically a giant walk, with a bunch of food stalls in the middle, full of beautiful illuminations. Towards the exit, there are a bunch of tents which contain performers, a bar, and more food stalls if you are interested in checking out some of the shows! Many of the lights are different each and every year, giving the whole place a magical glow and an air of mystery as you walk around.
There is so much more that can also be explored in London during the holiday season, as well as many budget friendly places to visit in London all year long!
With the VIP Pass, you will be able to go to Manchester, London, Birmingham, Liverpool and Edinburgh. Only for this limited time period, VIP Pass will also offer free travel to Portugal and Spain. So use The VIP Pass and use them to visit London.
Many of the roads are lined with lights, there are beautiful buildings, and plenty of pubs with holiday menus and festive drinks. With so much to explore and do, I am sure you’ll have a wonderful adventure in London, during the month of December, when everything is transformed for the holidays!
This post is a part of our Blogmas series, with each and every post being about Christmas or Winter.
Covent Garden is really Christmassy, I loved the lego carousel. Although I didn’t know that you had to book and pay to go into Winter Wonderland this year x
They have a lot of free slots at off peak, but you do need to book, it did throw a few people for a surprise, though there is a box office nearby that you can grab tickets at.
Looks like you had a great time! London is so beautiful especially around this time of year…you can really feel the magic in the air!
London does get super dressed up for the festive season!
I love London and its extra special at this time of year. Great list of places to visit. My kids would live Lightopia and the Lego carousel of creativity.
Both are really wonderful places to go and see.
The Trafalgar Square Christmas Market is something I would definitely want to check out. It looks like such a beautiful place!
