Gourmaze The Sweet Escape has you finding sweet treats!

Gourmaze

[Ad- gifted experience] When it comes to exploring London, there are so many options for what to do and what to eat. However, Gourmaze has put together a maze, filled with puzzles and riddles, to deliver mystery food to you and your friends. I went off to do The Sweet Escape mission, along with Dann and our friend Tom who does not like his face being shown. We started off by going to a pub in the centre of London, and texting a phone number.

The leader was determined as Dann, and we got ready to start our adventure. The writers of this mission are very funny people, as they started with so many food puns. Basically, our challenge was to escape across Europe, finding hidden desserts, and helping General Tasty reunite with his crew. The text messages were sent to everyone’s phone, but only Dann could reply. Once we had the breif, we were given some directions on where to go next, which were vague, and started solving riddles. The very first riddle had us stumped. We thought we knew the answer, but we did not. There are options to just skip the riddle, but it adds time to your end score, as does getting the questions wrong. After some long thinking, we figured it out, determined that Gourmaze the Sweet Escape was going to be tough, and went on our way.

It turns out, the first few questions were tough, but then the game got pretty easy and we were just overthinking it due to our first few riddles. There is lots of walking around London, lots of being aware and noticing your surroundings, and the wording in riddles really makes a difference when you play. After not too long at all, we made it to the first location and found a very delicious desert. We had to go up to what we thought was the location and say a phrase, which felt super embarrassing, but then the person was apart of the game and showed us a question! This felt a lot like The Amazing Race, and it was really fun to be interreacting with real people who were apart of it. We then won over a healthy serving of tiramisu each, which our digital captain was excited about!

Gourmaze The Sweet Escape is really well written in it’s game, as the next area was an optional pub, which we skipped, and then we ended up at another dessert place, getting hot chocolate which were really good. The next suggestion was going to another pub – which we went to for some drinks, and bumped into some people who were also on the quest! Surprised and delighted, they ended up leaving before us and we were motivated. We then continued onto our adventure after our pints. There were several more stops for drinks, which were optional, and some contained discounts for their drinks if you showed them the adventure – which is a nice touch as sometimes you need to wash down a delicious dessert.

Our final dessert took some time to find and lots of walking. The captain wanted a picture in front of specific buildings, seemingly for fun, but we ended up beating the group we previously spoke to at the end. We did trip up here and there, but were delighted as we found the last dessert place. We thought Gourmaze The Sweet Escape was over, but there was more! Through a few more clues, we were able to find another pub to land at, to unwind after our long adventure.

Gourmaze The Sweet Escape is an amazing adventure. Getting mystery desserts while trying to feel smart and solve puzzles makes for a really fun and full day out. Dann answered the majority of the questions for Tom and I, which made him feel really smart, and Tom and I were happy to just eat up the delicious foods that were being presented to us. I look forward to seeing their savory version once it’s out too! It’s worth mentioning that the timer is paused when you stop at pubs and eat, so your final score is the time you took plus any sort of penalties that you get, in case you are interested in high scores! We had never done anything like this before, and with all of the desserts included in the ticket price, it really is a fun adventure.

You can check out our other Days Out to see what else we’ve been up too!
