A Day Out at Battersea Light Festival 2023

We are huge fans of light festivals in our home, so when we heard about the free to attend Battersea Light Festival, we had to go! Dann and I went as a little date night, exploring the lights and the area generally. Battersea has had a bunch of new construction, especially in the Battersea Power Station, which is a giant mall that includes some of the lights from the festival! There is a free, online map which shows the route you can walk around to see all of the different lights in the area – there are 8 of them in total!

A Day Out at Rebus: A Game Called Malice at Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch

[Ad- gifted experience] Featuring John Rebus, a retired detective from Ian Rankin’s detective novels, Rebus: A Game Called Malice brings him to the stage, showcasing something beyond the previously written books and bringing a story to a different medium. This performance is sort of a murder mystery, but at the same time, the characters are also trying to solve a murder mystery at the end of an evening dinner.

A Day Out at Wicked the Musical

Robin has previously never really picked places to go and adventures to go on. She likes to describe us as an Adventure Family, and always asks where we are going next, but lately she has been giving suggestions as to what she wants to do and go too. The other day she asked to go see Wicked the Musical, which she had seen advertised when we went to the movies to watch Matilda, and then saw ads for on her phone games and a poster around town. Dann and I were really excited at her suggestion, as she normally doesn’t pick such a new thing to try. So, we booked up Wicked the Musical for that weekend.

Hyde Park Winter Wonderland and Magical Ice Kingdom

Every year, we go off to the Hyde Park Winter Wonderland event! Some years we go as a date night with just Dann and I, other years we take all three of our children to have a magical and festive time. This year, we took our kids. Winter Wonderland is a bit of an expensive place – especially as they now have a ticket price to get in, but if you do pre-book enough activities, this entry fee is waved and you are able to go in for free, technically. We ended up booking up tickets to Magical Ice Kingdom, which has always been apart of the event, however we had never gone to it!

Winter’s Tail at Chessington World of Adventure

Chessington World of Adventure is an amusement park that we do not often go to, despite it being quite nearby! It’s quite a fun and large amusement park, though we didn’t get a chance to go this year, so I was pretty excited to hear about their Winter’s Tail advent for the holiday season. The park itself is limited during this event, but what is there has been transformed into a winter wonderland, with seasonal shows and special events going on that are themed with this time of year. There is also a lot included in your ticket price, as long as you go to each one.
