Afternoon Tea with Cats at Whiskers & Cream Cat Cafe

Whiskers & Cream

It’s no secret that everyone in this home really loves cats and kittens! Pancake, our own cat, is quite spoiled with toys, attention, and treats. We decided to go out one day to the Whiskers & Cream cat cafe to hang out with some new cats while eating treats of our own. When booking to visit the cat cafe, you can either pay an admissions fee (which comes with a free drink) or book for afternoon tea, where there are a bunch of different menus for food options from vegan to children’s menus!

We decided to go for lunch, picking the normal afternoon tea for us adults and the children’s afternoon tea for the children, but let’s talk about the cats. There are 9 cats in Whiskers & Cream – and you are told about each of them. All of these cats have different personalities and like different toys. After being introduced to everyone (and having our food served) it was up to us if we wanted to snack or go play. The kids were able to talk to the staff to find out different cat’s favourite toys, before trying to play with them! Many of the cats were playful, Jasper being the biggest, loudest, and most excited cat.

Vanilla was a cat we were told didn’t take to children, so to be a bit gentle around her, but she spent a lot of time at our table (probably smelling our own cat on us) and got lots of scratches. Amelia and Kai spent a bit of the day trying to get a cat called Amelia and a cat called Winnie out of boxes so that they’d play, but neither of those cats seemed to interested. After the kids had left them alone, Amelia the cat actually came to our table on her own, looking for some cuddles! Robin, being quite young, felt that some of the cat toys were human toys, and had a lot of fun playing herself, even if there were no cats involved. It was really lovely to get to be out and about around such lovely creatures, and just be introduced to some new cats.

We also, as mentioned, had afternoon tea, so let’s get into the food!

Whiskers & Cream Delight

The adult menu Jupiter and I got is called the Whiskers & Cream Delight which contained a bunch of little sandwiches, plain and fruit scones, jam, clotted cream, and a bunch of sweet treats. My favourite sandwich was the gammon ham and wholegrain mustard while Jupiter quite loved the mature cheddar cheese and artisan chutney! There was also a smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich, as well as a little avocado toast, with lime and coriander, as well as dots of sriracha. On the top shelf of our tea, the cakes were amazing! There was a tart au citron (basically a lemon tart), red velvet cake, a toffee caramel brownie that was richer than most cakes I’ve had, a delicious raspberry rose macron, and a lovely mango and lime sorbet – which was probably my favourite. Though these are all small bites, it was a really filling meal. Jupiter and I both had hot chocolates along with them!

Children’s Delight

The children’s menu (called Children’s Delight) had a similar selection, though not as elevated as the adult menu, with simple sandwiches even the pickiest eater would enjoy. Each child got a cheddar sandwich, ham sandwich, and cream cheese and cucumber sandwich. These were eaten up quickly by the children, who seemed to really enjoy the ham sandwich best. They also had a scone each, some jam and clotted cream, and then a top area of sweets; red velvet cake, caramel brownie, raspberry rose macaroon, mango and lime sorbet. The children’s favourites were also the mango and lime sorbet.

Overall, we had a wonderful time at the cat cafe! There are so many toys to play with, everyone is very kind and willing to help and the cats are very cute. The food was great – we ended up taking quite a few of the sweet treats home for future consumption – and the kids have been asking to go back again soon. Whiskers & Cream is over two floors, with plenty of area for the cats to hide away or come out and play. The place is also extremely clean for a cat cafe! I am sure we will be along again soon.

You can check out our other Days Out to see what else we’ve been up too!

I love visiting cat cafes in London – even puppy coffeeshops are really cool to hang out at. To start a writing day smoothly, Whiskers and Cream is the top. I also love Lady Dinah’s Cat Emporium – maybe you know it? It’s really cool and dreamy!

We went to Whiskers and Cream before! Lady Dinah’s Cat Emporium has an age restriction, so sadly Robin couldn’t attend. But someday!
