[Ad- gifted experience] When it comes to Christmas magic, one of the things that most people do is visit Santa! We have seen Santa at Winter Wonderland, Legoland and even at a little light walk display. but we haven’t really gone to a place that’s only for meeting Santa. Woolwich Works is hosting a bunch of different Christmas themed activities, from a small Christmas market outside the venue on the weekends, to Christmas performances, and of course there is an option to meet Santa himself.

We arrived at Woolwich Works and had a look at the Christmas Market, which had a good variety of food stalls around the outside, along with a bunch of very fun fair ground games. There was a whack-the-rat game, knock over cans, and a giant snow globe full of fake snow that you could go into. This area was full of people hanging out! There were some stands where you could purchase Christmas Gifts and even a small stage, where there were Christmas songs being sung. It really sets the mood.

When we were ready, we headed in side the building, where there is a little desk set up. Here you can check in, and are then lead down a hallway that has some little decorations, into the Woolwich Works Candy Grotto. Here, two elves checked us in and let us know that we could do some coloring while we waited. When you are visiting Santa at the Candy Grotto, it’s a one-on-one experience so there wasn’t any other families in. Coloring and using the photo wall kept us busy while we waited for our turn. When Santa was ready for us, an elf came over and called out our youngest’s name, as the older ones didn’t give up their name to the elf. We then got to walk down the little walkway to Santa’s gingerbread house. This walkway has a few photo points as well, which were very adorable.

When entering into Santa’s house, he was sat at the corner, and greeted all of us full of joy. He spoke softly with Robin, asking her all sorts of questions, and even got her singing a Christmas song, which was lovely. He got the older teens involved, but only slightly, really reading the vibe of the room which we appreciated! Once we had made our Christmas requests and he had made his, we then posed for a picture which the elf took for us. I sat a little too much in the centre (I do wish she said!) but I didn’t check before we headed out. Santa gave Robin a magical gingerbread box, which she got to take over to an elf station and fill full of pick and mix. Amelia ended up getting one too, as she wanted some sweets, which we took home. It was a very wholesome and cute experience, that didn’t feel rushed and felt very cozy.
You can check out our other Days Out to see what else we’ve been up too!
